Lonetta "Lonnie" Kay Colston, 59, of Olathe, passed away on February 1, 2017. She was born on June 21, 1957 to Leon and Rayma June (Cagle) Carlisle in Kansas City, KS. She attended Emporia State University where she played softball and volleyball. She graduated with a degree in Business. Lonnie married, the love of her life, Harvey Lee Colston on July 30, 1983. She worked at Chrysler as an credit administrator and after that she was a long time daycare provider to kids who she adored greatly. She worked very hard until her health started declining.
Lonnie battled Type 1 Diabetes for many years of her life. In 2000, her eyesight started to decline and in a few years after that, she was considered legally blind. In 2008, she received a kidney transplant to take her off dialysis and in 2014 survived breast cancer. In September 2016, she suffered cardiac arrest while in the hospital and worked very hard for 4 ½ months to get home. She was blessed to be home for one day before suffering another cardiac arrest that took her life. She was a true fighter. She proved so many people wrong throughout her journey and was a true hero to many.
Lonnie is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Harvey. Her son Ryan, daughter in law Spenser, daughter Emily and adored grandson Bryce. She is also survived by her mother Rayma June Carlisle, siblings: Karen Blue (Ronald), Dale Cruse (Walter), and Timothy Carlisle (Su). She also loved her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Leon Dale Carlisle.
A visitation will be from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday , February 6, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe, with burial following in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
