Lona Arlene Brown (Solie)

November 26, 1947 — April 19, 2025

Lona Arlene Brown (Solie), age 77, of Olathe, KS, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Villa St. Francis of ovarian cancer.

She was born November 26, 1947, to the late Ginnard and Alma (Moen) Solie in Rice Lake, WI. She grew up on a farm, which she didn’t particularly enjoy, but she found happiness in her horse, Lightening. She graduated from Barron High School (Barron, WI) in 1965, and after high school she moved to LaCrosse, WI to attend Western Wisconsin Technical Institute until her graduation in 1966.

Her career in LaCrosse started as a switchboard operator, she progressed to more bookkeeping responsibilities, then later became an office manager. While in LaCrosse she married, had a daughter, Melissa, and divorced.

She moved to Olathe, KS in 1977 and a few years later she found and married the love of her life and gained 2 sons, Tye and Devlin. She held various jobs as a full charge bookkeeper/Accountant. After many years she was successfully self-employed and appreciated the flexibility of working from home throughout the rest of her career.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and was addicted to a couple daytime soap operas. She loved animals and specifically had a passion for horses. These last few years she was able to spend lots of time with her 2 great-granddaughters, Rylan and Remi. She was a dedicated member of Church of the Harvest in Olathe for many years, where she continued to strengthen and grow her faith up until her passing.

Lona is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mark Brown; daughter, Melissa; son, Devlin (Amanda); four grandchildren, Garrett (Bailey), Carysa (Shane), Tiffani, Tylar; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Aiden, Rylan, Remi, Branson; a brother, Arvid Solie; nieces; nephews; and other relatives. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

‍Lona was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tye; a brother, Wyman.
