Lois (Rundberg) Hackathorn,
Lois began her journey on July 6th, 1936 in the home of Einar and Evelyn Rundberg in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She grew up in Eau Claire with her older brother Charles, and younger sister Mary, until her teenage years when her mother took her on a train ride to Pasadena, California, and spent a year there. She graduated from Olivet Nazarene and taught in Danville and Kankakee, Illinois serveral years, giving of herself to hundreds of 2nd grade students.
She married Richard Hackathorn, had 3 children in the sixties, Kathleen, Steve and Becky, who were truly nurtured and blessed by her giving spirit. While her children were growing, she worked at Christian Camping International for several years where she continued to give of herself to the work of the Lord, yet continued to care so well for her children.
In 1978, she and her children moved to Olathe where she eventually became the secretary for the nursing division where she loved on and listened to hundreds of nursing students. She also helped raise her grand-daughter Kristina, Kathleen's daughter. After she retired, she moved into the Good Sam Towers and made many friends, more people yet again for her to love on. While there, her grandson's, Matthew and Jonny, would walk to the Towers after school where she would watch them until their parents could pick them up and she would often make them her famous pancakes.
She moved to her final earthly home, around 2009, the Good Sam Center where she had many friends. Last Friday, her nurses noticed some of Lois' confusion, and sent her to the hospital, as she had become seriously ill during the night. As her health issues continued to become more severe, her tired body just could not fight all of the battles, and she went to be with Jesus on January 5, 2014, at 2:19 PM.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen, Steve and Becky, brother Charles and sister Mary, and grand children Kristina Kilgore, Ryan & Hannah Metcalf and Matthew, Jonathan, Stephanie, Madeline & Wyatt Hackathorn and great grand children Mason and Kenzie Sherman.
