Lester "Pete" Burris
August 5, 1926 – August 14, 2013
Pete has begun his final and most challenging flight. A love of flying beginning with his Army Air Corp in WWII as a flight radio operator on the old Gooney Bird C-47 from Bovington, England to Bremen, Germany. He worked as a flight radio officer for Chicago Southern Airlines from New Orleans to Caracas, Venezuela. He also worked as a radio operator for Aeronautical Radio in Anchorage, AK.
He attended Radio and Television school in Kansas, City, MO, and worked for several TV stations, primarily on the west coast and had the opportunity to meet many Hollywood actors. He retired from KETC PBS station in 1989 and moved to Coffeyville, KS.
A graduate of Anderson High School, class of 1944, Pete died in Olathe, KS, at the assisted living center in which he resided.
