Leota Alice Garland, 80, of Olathe KS, passed into Heaven on Dec. 25, 2023.
Leota was born on February 24, 1943, to Bruce and Else McKnight in Independence, KS. Leota lived with her parents and siblings in Cherryvale, KS for Leota's early years. The McKnight family moved to Eureka, KS were they lived and Leota Graduated from Hamilton, KS High School in 1960.
After Graduating from High School Leota moved to Wichita KS, and became a Candy Striper working over-nights at Westley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.
In Oct. of 1966 Leota meet John Garland in a Sunday School class at church. They began dating and fell in love and were married on Feb. 25, 1967.
On Sept. 25, 1968 Leota and John brought their first born baby home and named her Susan. 2 1/2 years later twins were born on Feb. 24th April and Byron. The twins were born on Leota's 28th birthday.
Leota was a homemaker. Showing love to her family by making a home of support for her husband and children. Cooking food with love, and defending her family when necessary.
Hard times came to The Garland family and Leota needed to get a job outside of the home to help meet family expenses. Leota worked for KinderCare Daycare Center and Sand Castle Daycare Center.
Leota was always willing and ready to watch and take care of her Grandkids and Great-Grandkids.
Leota was also active in caring for others in church and community responsibilities.
Leota and her family made their home in Park City, KS for over 44 years. In 2012, Leota and John made the decision to move to Olathe, Ks and be cared for by family. Leota lived in Olathe for 11 years.
Leota loved nature. Planting flowers, bird watching, car rides down country roads, horses and the many cats and dogs she and her family took care of.
Leota will be deeply missed and never forgotten!!
