Leonard "Lenny" Anthony Hansel, 85, of Olathe, passed away on September 24, 2019. He was born on August 27, 1934 to Frank and Helen (Gnip) Hansel in Kansas City, KS.
Leonard grew up in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Ward High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army. He married his lovely bride Janice on November 19, 1976. He worked and retired from Sears. After retiring from Sears, he worked for the Shawnee Mission School District. He enjoyed all sports, but his favorite sports were baseball, basketball, golf, and football. Later in years he enjoyed doing word search puzzles.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Janice Hansel; daughter, Christina (Hansel) Harmon (Fred), of Olathe, KS; step-son, Jeffrey Doubrava (Gigi), of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Joshua Doubrava (Bre), Kayla Doubrava, Tyler Bridge, Jaylynn Bridge, and Kyleigh Harmon; sister Jean (Hansel) Hale, and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helen (Gnip) Hansel, twin brother, Bernard Hansel; sister, Francis (Hansel) Srubas, and step-daughter; Jaylene Doubrava.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, KS and the Mass of Catholic Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to either the Olathe Hospice House care of Olathe Health Charitable Foundation, 20375 W. 151st St., Suite 363 Olathe, KS 66061 (please write "Hospice House" on the MEMO line) or to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W 143rd St, Olathe, KS 66062.
