Leona Wilgus

LEONA FERN WILGUS, age 87, passed away February 2, 2016 at home in Overland Park, KS. Leona was born April 7, 1929 in Abilene, KS to Herman and Emma Steffen. On August 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Wilgus. Leona was a member of the Kansas City Rose Society, and the Kansas City Swiss Society, and also attended Unity Temple on the Plaza.

Surviving are her children Jerry (Velva) Wilgus, Mike (Beverly) Wilgus, Mitch (Terry) Wilgus and Vicki (Richard) Ward, her brother Bruce ( LaDonna) Steffen, and her sister Betty (Thomas) Britton, twelve grand-children; Michael, Jeffrey, and Timothy Wilgus, Nathan, Jason and Jody Wilgus, Michelle Abril, William Wilgus, Jonathan Ward, Greg Ward, Andrew Ward and Laura Ward, and eleven great-grandchildren Tyler Hall, Drake Wilgus, Zoe Wilgus, Jonah Wilgus, Leila Wilgus, Madison Abril, Elijah Ward, Aimee Ward, Zachary Ward, Rowana Ward and Alex Ward.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with a reception following until 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Unity Temple on the Plaza.
