Leon Beck was born in Kansas City, KS on October 31, 1938 to Vaughn & Jennie Beck. He passed away on Monday, November 24, 2015 surrounded by all his family and friends.
As a young man he grew up on the family cattle farm in Bucyrus, KS baling hay and herding cattle. He graduated from Spring Hill High School where he played football, basketball and made for a handsome homecoming king. He moved to Olathe, KS after graduation where he spent the rest of his life.
Leon was avid in youth sports, coaching many kids in baseball and basketball. Sports was a passion for him and he enjoyed being a Chiefs season ticket holder, a KU basketball season ticket holder, and lived to see the Royals take the Crown twice. He also loved fishing and looked forward to his annual trips to Canada with his fishing buddies. During Leon's last trip, he and his grandson landed a trophy walleye - a whopping 9.65 lbs, 30 inch.
Much of his life was spent digging in the dirt as a heavy equipment operator with Union Local 101. He was an active member of the Spring Hill Masonic Lodge and of the Abdallah Shrine.
Leon's biggest joy was spending time with his family and was always supportive of all they did, especially with school and sports. He is survived by his wife Terry of the home; children Debra & Herb Kohl of Spring Hill; Kelly Loveall of Olathe; Lonnie Beck of Olathe; Chris & Julie Beck of Stilwell, KS; grandchildren Tenisha Loveall of Fort Collins, CO; Marshall Loveall of Olathe; Lauren Beck of Olathe; Lee Beck and Melissa Ruse of Shawnee, KS; Lacey Beck of K-State Univ.; Jennie Kohl of Univ. of Kansas; Adyan, Myka, Tylar and Kyan Beck of Stilwell; and a great grandson Tyler Beck of Olathe.
