Leland Gail Rhodes, 93, passed away on October 28, 2020, at his home in Olathe, Kan.
He was born on September 2, 1927, to Lester and Nina Rhodes in Atlantic, Iowa.
He served our country in the US Army from 1945 to 1946.
On January 3, 1954, he married Margaret Lorene Bower in Omaha, Neb. They first relocated to Liberty, Mo., then eventually settled in Olathe, Kan. in 1961.
Leland worked as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement in 1981.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, and traveling with his family and friends. At the ripe old age of 59, he learned to scuba dive off the coast of the Red Sea.
Leland is survived by his loving children, daughters Margaret Sims (John), Sharon Lardie, and Carol Krogman, and sons Jeffery Rhodes (Kristi) and Scott Rhodes (Tammy), grandchildren Jennifer, Laura, Kaylyn, Jacob, Tiffany, Shawntae, Dustin, Kyle and Kailey and 17 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, and his parents.
