Lee Meireis, 76, of Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at his home.
Lee was born October 20, 1933, in Stafford, KS. to Ted and Vada Meireis. The Meireis family moved to Olathe in 1942. Lee attended three one-room schools and graduated from Olathe High School in 1951. On March 6, 1954, Lee married his wife Jean and they raised 3 children. From 1952-1965 Lee was a proud member of the Kansas National Guard. He was a registered Kansas Land Surveyor and retired from Payne and Brockway Engineers and Land Surveyors in 1984. Lee is a past member of Olathe Jaycees and was an active member of Olathe Christian Church.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Vada Meireis; brothers, Merle and Elton Meireis; and son, Brad Meireis. He is survived by his wife, Jean Meireis of Olathe, KS; siblings, Geneva and John Lawler of Houston, TX, Cliff and Dortha Meireis of Newton, KS; children, Rick and Alisa Meireis of Olathe, KS, Pam and Ray Smith of Ozark, MO; grandchildren, Travis and Heather Meireis of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Tiffany Meireis of Olathe, KS.
