TLEATRIS "LEA" JOSEPHINE BRUMMETT
Went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, at her residence in Olathe, Kansas. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Sharon Baptist Church, 13020 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe Kansas. The family suggests remembrances to the Salvation Army, 420 E. Santa Fe Street, Olathe, KS 66061, or to the American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch Rd., Ste. 100, Merriam, KS 66204-1200.
Lea was born on March 25, 1938 in Towanda Township, KS to Benjamin and Margaret (Gehrer) Schultz. She married Henry "Hank" Nelson, and they were blessed with three daughters. Later she married the love of her life, Norman R. Brummett and they made their home in the Kansas City area. Lea was employed with Armco Steel Co for many years, later sold real estate with Century 21, and eventually retired from Emery/UPS after almost 15 years of service. In her leisure time, she enjoyed her grandson, Tanner (MiMi's Magic), and frequent trips to Las Vegas.
She is survived by her daughters Marilyn Owings of Nome, AK, Kathryn "Kitty" Williams of Cambridge, KS, and LaVon Harrison of Olathe, KS, her brother Ben Schlutz, Jr, sisters Carol Hubbard, Linda Johnson, and Debra Goebel, all of Wichita, KS, sister Helen Bannon of Augusta, KS and brother Bill Rust of Oronogo, MO, her ten grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, and step-parents, Ben and Cora Schultz, and Margaret and Charles Rust , her sister Phyliss Adamson, and infant brother, Leroy Schultz, and her husband, Norman.
