LAWRENCE (LARRY )D. THEIS
Lawrence (Larry) D. Theis-80 passed away at K.C. Hospice House on September 26, 2011. Larry was born in Atchison, Kansas to Lawrence and Kathryn Theis, December 16, 1930. Larry is a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954. Larry was a member of Local 101 Operating Engineers for 30 + years. Larry retired from J.M. Fahey in 1993.
Larry enjoyed working in his garden, canning, and woodworking. He also loved his cats and dogs.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Kathryn, his previous wife Doris, and his stepdaughter Barbara Howard.
Larry leaves behind his wife Mary, sons; Larry Jr., Ralph, and Mark Theis and daughter Kathy Overhoff, step-daughters Shirley Weidenhoeft, Pauline Fox, stepson Rick Singers, 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 7 great- great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters Rosemary Carter and Kathryn Nartnick.
Visitation will be held at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, Kansas on Thursday, Sept 29. from 6:00pm-8:00pm with Recitation of the Rosary at 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 30 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas. Larry will be buried at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Olathe, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kansas City Hospice House and Palliative Care or to Catholic Charities.
