Lawrence James Saunders, 83, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Thursday December 19, 2019 at Kansas Medical Center. Larry was born November 8, 1936 in East Kingston, New York the son of James Saunders and Sybil (Schackel) Saunders. He grew up in Kingston, New York and attended Downsville High.
He joined the Air Force as an ACW Radar Repairman at Keesler Airforce base in Mississippi and transferred to Olathe. He served four years from 1957 to 1961.
Larry married Patricia J. Cronin June 1st, 1962 in Olathe, Kansas, where they have lived for 57 years.
After the Airforce Larry worked for GE, Meadow Gold Ice Cream, Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and General Motors where he retired after 31 and a half years in 2007.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Sally Zimmerman of Middlesboro, Kentucky.
Larry is survived by his wife Patricia of the home, four children Jim Saunders (Nicki) of Osawatomie, Kansas, Janie Nelson (Jeff) of Olathe, Kansas, Lori Huffman (Kevin) of Olathe, Kansas, and Lisa Haefner (Kevin) of Desoto, Kansas, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and sister Carol Koster of Stoneridge, New York.
