Lawrence (Mik) Mikkelson, 86, Olathe, KS, passed away July 18, 2010.
Mik was born July 13, 1924 to Detlof and Emma Mikkelson in Great Falls, MT and raised on a ranch near Big Sandy, MT. He graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Air Force Cadet program in Feb. 1944. He married Marie Van Hoorn on Oct. 13, 1944 in Marana, AZ.
He was employed by General Mills as an office manager and later employed as a regional supervisor for Gold Bond Stamp Company.
Mik is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie, and their eight children: Lawrence (Mona Hennes); James (Cathy); Linda Voss; Judy (Stan Bolsenga); Ken (Emerald); Jerry; Karen (Steve Arkin); Tina (Randy Rockhold); 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are with Penwell Gabel Funeral Homes, 14275 Black Bob Rd., Olathe, KS 66063.
