Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Riley, 90, of Olathe, passed away on December 26, 2019 at Travanse Senior Living in Olathe. He was born on September 26, 1929 to Francis and Erma (Schell) Riley at Lincoln, NE.
Larry worked as a Supervisor for Delco Battery for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. On July 5, 1952, he married the love of his life, Cleta Woltkamp, and they made their home in Olathe, KS. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Larry thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and as the number grew, he became an avid photographer. For many years he spent his Mondays as a volunteer for St. Paul Catholic Church helping to count the Sunday collection. Larry lived his life guided by the principles of his Catholic faith and he had an unwavering commitment to his family.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Jackie) Riley; daughters, Jolene Miller, Jalynn (Kevin) Hedrick, and Janeen (Sean) Shawver; grandchildren, Jennifer Lombardo, Morgan Butsch, Julie Hedrick, Riley Miller, Miles Riley, and Mary Loecker; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Cleta.
