He attended Norborne High School, playing football and softball, followed by graduation in 1946. He then enrolled in Chillicothe Business College for one semester, followed by several employment opportunities. He married Charlotte E. Heil on April 10, 1950, and they moved to Harrisonville, Mo where their first child, Connie Sue, was born.
Other job changes brought the family to Independence, MO, where their son, Michael Lawrence, was born. Luckily, Lawrence became employed with Kellogg's Sales Co. in April of 1955, and then relocated his family to Topeka, KS for the next eleven years. He was eventually transferred to the Kansas City/Olathe area, where he retired from Kellogg's in June of 1993. Upon retiring, he worked for Sunflower Dodge in Olathe for four years.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie Sue Heil, Overland Park, son Michael L. Heil and his wife, Joyce, Olathe, his sister Velma (Kenneth) Hawkins of Kansas City, MO, and three grandsons, Robert, Christopher and Garrett Heil, all of Olathe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte E. Heil, in January, 2005.
Most important to him were his family, especially his children and grand-children.
They were the light of his life.
