Lawrence D. Else

Lawrence Dwayne Else, 80, entered eternal glory on Friday, October 28, 2011. He was born May 6, 1931 on the Else farm near Leighton, Iowa. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, in 1949 and completed his BA through the MHR program at Mid America Nazarene University in 1988 at the age of 57.
Lawrence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a veteran of the Korean War, a Boy Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, choir member and a member of the church board. While Lawrence was a man of few words, he touched many lives outside his family. He gave nearly 30 years of service to Mid America Nazarene University, which he considered his ministry, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed model trains, antique tractors, camping and serving on two work and witness teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Fred Else and Edith Mary (Andrews) Else. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby (Rexroth) Else of Ottawa, KS, his six children; Corinne Oldfield of Olathe, KS, Linda Else of Olathe, KS, Norman Else (wife Diana) of Mt. Home, Idaho, Pamela Janes (husband Ron) of Olathe, KS, Brian Else (wife Cheryl) of Pomona, KS and Rachele Williams (husband Jon) of Excelsior Springs, MO, his eight grandchildren; William Janes, Matthew Janes, Ashley Oldfield, Ian Else, Elora Else, Jonathan Williams, Jr., Mary Grace Williams, and Ethan Williams, two step-grandchildren; Tina Novak and Pam Stephen, and one great-grandchild: Marin Janes, and two step-great-grand children; Aaron Zellner and Miranda Zellner, his brother Harlan Else of State Center, Iowa, and his sister Arlene (Else) McCoy, of Klamath Falls, OR.
Memorial contributions may be given in Lawrence's honor to the Kansas City Rescue Mission.
