Larry George Risen
April 16, 1935 — January 22, 2021
Larry G. Risen, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away or "checked out," as he would say, surrounded by his family on Friday, January 22, 2021.
Larry was born April 16, 1935 in Hooker, Oklahoma. He spent his teen years in Phoenix, Arizona where he met his bride of 56 1/2 years, Marion C. Walton.
After graduating from the University of Arizona, Larry served his country in the U.S. Navy for ten years. He and Marion then settled in Overland Park where he was active in his church, Overland Park Civic ban, Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Red Cross and AAU swimming.
Larry was known for his goofy sense of humor as well as is genuine kindness and generosity. He never met a person he didn't like and was loved by all who knew him.
Larry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion. He is survived by his four daughters: Lynne Risen Longo (Peter) of Dallas, TX, Cindy Risen of Overland Park, KS, Patty Risen Kohlman of Overland Park, KS, and Debbie Risen Hurwitz of Houston, TX. He is also survived by six adoring grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He will be greatly missed. Due to Covid restrictions, there are no immediate service plans. In lieu of flowers, donations made to KC Pet Project would be appreciated.
