Larry Goins

Larry Emerson Goins, 76, loving son, husband, father, papa, and friend passed away April 27, 2016.
Larry was born August 21, 1939 to Peggy Lea Boggs and Marion Emerson Goins.
Larry spent the first 26 years of his life in Kansas City, MO. He attended and graduated from Westport High School in 1958. Larry then joined the U.S. Army in 1958 and served our country for two years. He went on to attend Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS from 1960-1962. In 1963, Larry enrolled in Cosmetology College, then married Peggy E. Parr, moving to Bonner Springs, KS, and opened a beauty salon, Coiffures of Fashion. In 1975, Larry and Peggy refurbished and renamed the salon "Larry's Beauty Salon." In the early 1980's, Larry sold the beauty salon and opened up a small chain of "Avenue Rental" stores in the Kansas City, MO area. Larry and Peggy moved to North Kansas City, MO in 1986.
Larry had a great passion for his work and loved spending time with his family.
Larry eventually retired in 2005, following the death of his wife, Peggy. In 2008 Larry attended his 50th high school reunion and got reacquainted with classmate Abba Palazola. They became inseparable and in 2015, Larry moved to an apartment at Sunrise of Leawood in Leawood, KS to reside with Abba.
He is survived by his daughter; Lisa (Goins) Werner, son-in-law Rick Werner, grandsons Ryan Werner and Lucas Werner, and companion Abba Palazola. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy E. Goins, and mother Peggy L. Brown.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Continua Home Health and Hospice, 13002 Stateline Road, Leawood, KS 66209, the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Menorah Medical Center, 5721 W. 119th Street, Overland Park, KS 66209 or the Lawrence Humane Society,1805 E 19th St, Lawrence, KS 66046.
