Kristine "Kristi" Janette Long
October 17, 1972 — August 1, 2022
Kristine "Kristi" Janette Long passed away August 1, 2022 surrounded by loved ones and prayer at Kansas City Hospice. Kristi was a loving wife, a caring mother, a dependable friend and a faithful servant of God.
Kristi was born at Naval Regional Medical Center, Great Lakes, IL, and grew up in Lenexa, KS where she was involved with 4-H and Girl Scouts. She graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School where she ran cross country and played flute in the band.
Kristi attended Kansas State University where she earned her degree in geology and physical science. As a fierce Wildcat fan, Kristi attended every football home-game as a member of the K-State marching band where she played piccolo. After leaving K-State, Kristi joined Terracon Consultants where she worked as a laboratory supervisor and soil expert.
Kristi married John Long in 2009. They lived in Olathe, KS with their two children, Rachel and Aaron. Kristi was adored by her children. She spent Saturdays doing arts and crafts, exploring parks and play grounds in Johnson County or seasonal activities with them.
Kristi had always felt the call to serve and was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church from an early age. She sang first as part of the youth choir and later on the worship team. Kristi served God as an elder and a deacon, she played in the Knox orchestra and participated in Bible studies. Her greatest calling was passing her love of God and Knox onto others, as a youth sponsor, as a children's ministry team member and as a mother and an aunt.
Kristi is survived by her parents, Carolyn and Glenn Hodges; husband, John; children, Rachel and Aaron; sisters, Diane (Bill) Niedringhaus, Cheryl (Steve) Marcotte, and Janice (Andrew) Wendel; and four nieces and two nephews.
Celebration of Kristi's time with us will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 9595 West 95th Street, Overland Park, KS on August 21, 2022, at 3 pm.
