Kirk Michael Mowry, 74, of Olathe, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2019 after battling lung cancer. He was surrounded by his family who expressed their love and gratitude to him in his final moments.
Kirk was born on October 3, 1944 to Beryl Harold and Dorothy (née Aley) Mowry in Santa Monica, California. He grew up in Russell, Kansas and graduated from Russell High School in 1962.
Kirk served his country with distinction in the Vietnam War and was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University.
On August 16, 1969, he married Carol (née Berens) Mowry. Kirk and Carol have lived in Olathe for 35 years.
Kirk began Mowry Marketing in 1993 and grew his business substantially over the past 25 years. He greatly enjoyed working with his accounts in Kansas and Missouri over the years.
Kirk was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed racing cars, sports parachuting, playing golf, caring for animals, and spending time with family and friends. He loved supporting his children, grandchildren, and their friends in their various sports and activities. And he delighted making other people laugh and smile.
Kirk is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol; his son, Lance Michael Mowry and his wife Linda (née Gannon) Mowry; his daughter, Desiree Marie Mowry; his grandchildren, Anna and Ethan Mowry; his brothers Kent, Peter (Judy), and Craig (Becky) Mowry; many nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and parents-in-law.
Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans. Donations may be mailed to the family.
