Mrs. Rosa was born November 27, 1964 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. Kim dedicated her life to helping children and families. Prior to returning to school for a third degree, she worked tirelessly as a Social Worker at the Missouri Division of Family Services (DFS), where for over 11 years she devoted herself to protecting, restoring and maintaining families. Wanting to carry out a more significant and lasting service to children and families, Kim invested the last four years performing formal social welfare research projects while at the same time working towards a PhD in Social Welfare at the University of Kansas. She never slowed down nor lost enthusiasm for her efforts, even in the face of cancer. Kim cherished the relationships she established at DFS and at KU, where she earned her Bachelors, and Masters degrees, in addition to her work towards the PhD. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her Hawks nor to chant "Rock Chalk KU!"
Kim's commitment to God, family and friends was unwavering and always put in front of any concerns for herself. When she was not working or going to school, Kim loved spending time with family and friends. She joined her daughter as a student at Olathe Karate Academy, an activity which cultivated many new and dear friendships. Kim was fond of fishing during family trips to her parent's property at Lake of the Ozarks, where she regularly outfished her husband and two brothers. Quiet times often found her reading a Steven King novel or a passage in the family Bible. The fall season, with its crisp colorful days, was her preferred season but the celebration of Christmas was her absolute favorite time of year.
She is survived by Marcelo, her husband of 15 years; their children Megan and Joshua; stepson Eric; brothers John and Joe; sister-in-law Shelly; parents Betty and Al; mother-in-law Ute; and countless exceptional friends, colleagues and extended family.
