Kim A. Babayev, a beloved husband, father and grandfather - of Merriam, Kansas, died on January 2nd, 2024 in the hospital fighting pneumonia at the age of 88 years old.
Kim was born on April 19,1935 in Baku Azerbaijan, of former USSR. Married Zhuleta in 1963 and together they have two daughters and one son.
Kim was a hard worker and loved working for many years as a mechanical engineer. He appreciated fixing cars and enjoyed the automotive business. He was also known for his skills as a dental technician later in life after immigrating to the United States in 1998. He made friends easily and developed strong bonds within his community. Kim was a loving husband, father and he fiercely loved spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies included traveling to new places, visiting the local farmers market for fresh fruit and produce, going to the St. Garabed Armenian Church, exploring the local parks, playing backgammon and chess with his friends, fishing with his grandson, reading mystery novels and watching soccer or historical dramas. Kim enjoyed life, and living life to the fullest.
Kim leaves behind his wife of over 60 years, Zhuleta Babayeva; daughters Andjelika Madatova, Sofiya Tsitolovsky and son Rudolf Babayev. His grandchildren; Dmitry Tsitolovsky, Elina Kassabian, Arnold Madatov, Maxim Tsitolovsky, and Sofiya and Anthony Babayev; his great grand children; Rober Madatov and Adrian Kassabian. He leaves behind a community of his friends, fellow backgammon/chess enthusiasts who valued his social, enthusiastic and lively demeanor. He will be greatly missed, because to have met him was to love him, he was always kind to everyone and remained optimistic and positive even through his hardships.
The family will receive friends at 1:00PM followed by a celebration of his life will be at 2PM, on Friday January 5th at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel, with a luncheon following the service at the families home. The family requests that guests remember him fondly and keep his memory of positivity alive.
