Kenneth Paul Cardell, 56, passed away from a heart attack on November 19, 2011. Ken was born January 16, 1955, to H. Bruce and Ruth Cardell. After graduating from Shawnee Mission South High School, he attended Baker University for two years, then transferred to the University of Kansas, where he graduated with a degree in Accounting. Ken began working for General Electric, first in Kansas, then Wisconsin, then San Francisco, where he met his beloved Corrine "Connie" McHale. They married August 1, 1981, and relocated to Leawood, KS, where they raised 3 daughters, Krista (27), Kellie (25), and Madison (16).
After a successful real estate mortgage financing career, Ken joined Connie in running Personal Greetings, their family business, now operated by their daughters, Krista and Kellie. Ken showed incredible love for his family and for the Lord. Ken was a founding member of Heartland Community Church, which has been serving the community for over twenty five years. He was active many years in Young Life, Ichthus, and other Christian ministries, as well as initiatives in the community and the girls' schools.
Ken enjoyed fishing and poker, visiting Colorado, watching KU basketball and Chiefs football. Ken was also an exceptionally gifted writer and painter. Connie was diagnosed in November 2003 with Leukemia. Ken wrote passionately about their journey at www.thecardells.com. His journal entries touched thousands of lives inspiring others to embrace God's grace, trust God's plan, obey God's will, and enjoy God's gifts every single day.
Ken is survived by beloved daughters, Krista, Kellie and Maddie; father, H. Bruce Cardell; siblings Dave, Karen, Jim (Mary), and Bill (Christy); also by 11 nieces and nephews, and 472 friends on Facebook. He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie and mother, Ruth A. Cardell.
The family will recieve friends at a reception immediately following the service. Burial service will be at 1:30pm at Johnson County Memorial Gardens at College and Metcalf in Overland Park, KS.
