KEN RAYMOND HUTZELL
Born May 30, 1938 in Linden, Iowa to Maurice and Kathryn Smalley Hutzell. Ken
grew up in Clive, IA and graduated 1956 from Valley HS, West DM, IA. Ken married Linda Jetter of Des Moines on May 26th 1962.
Ken and Linda resided in Urbandale, IA. Ken was Sales Mgr. for Consolidated Freightways, and retired after 29 years. He then became a partner in PDM Distribution Services and later an independent sales agent. Other Des Moines activities included serving as president of the Transportation Club of Des Moines and serving several years as a board member of the Iowa Motor Truck Association.
Ken was a leader in various youth and civic activities. He served on the Urbandale Parks and Recreation Board, Sports Association, & little league. He also coached many youth sports teams. Ken was an active member of Windsor Heights Lutheran Church for 55 years, and served on the church council.
Ken was selected citizen of the year in 1986 by the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce.
Ken and Linda moved to Olathe, Kansas in 2000 where they joined Salem Lutheran Church in Lenexa, Ks. He was a council member and involved in several other church activities.
Ken was preceeded in death by his father, Maurice Hutzell, mother Kathryn, brother Conn and infant son Jeffrey Paul.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda, daughter Kendria, children Sophie, William and Ben. Son Gregory and wife Sally, children Drake, Zachery, Tyler, Luke and Libby. His beloved sisters Karen Hildreth, and husband Raymond. Linda Tucker and husband Robert, Sister-in-law Linda M. Hutzell and Audrey Reiste and husband George and many much loved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 13402 W. 92nd St.,Lenexa Ks. 66215.
