KEITH "CORKY" E. BARNES

a resident of Olathe, KS, 69, passed away June 6, 2008 in Overland Park, KS. Friends are welcome to a Celebration of his Life on Friday, June13, from 3-8pm at the Ball Conference Center, 21350 W. 153rd Street, Olathe, KS. Memorials are suggested to the Keith Barnes Educational Memorial Fund, in care of First National Bank of Olathe, P.O. Box 150 Olathe, KS 66051.

Corky was born March 21, 1939 in Valley Falls, KS to Gerald and Juanita Barnes. He graduated from Valley Falls High School, and went on to receive his Bachelors in Education and Masters Degree in Administration from Pittsburgh State University. He contined to pursue his eduction throughout his lifetime. He began his teaching career in Webb City, MO, and retired after thirty years of teaching science in the Olathe School District, with both Olathe North and Olathe South High Schools. His other interests and activities included working with the family farm partnership and volunteering in various charitable and cultural organizations.

He is survived by his brother Roger Barnes of Topeka, his sister Janet ( Don ) Burton of Loveland, CO, nephews Chris Burton of Cornelius, NC, and Scott Barnes of Topeka, KS, and three nieces; Rebecca Aldridge of Colorado, Jill Gooden of Topeka, KS, and Amy Macuga of Park City, UT, seven great-nephews and five great-nieces, and and host of cherished friends and students.
