Kay A. Lawrence was born January 29, 1951 in Kansas City to John and Margaret Giberson. She graduated from Shawnee Mission East in 1969 and enrolled in the University of Kansas. She eventually found her knack in the salon industry, where she spent many years sharing her love of beauty and fashion and inspiring people to look and feel their best.
Kay continued to pursue her passion for helping people as a Certified Nursing Assistant. While working at Olathe Medical Center, Kay provided comfort, laughter, and care to those who needed it. After retiring from Olathe Medical Center, she returned to her love of helping others look good. Her gift of gab and outgoing personality was put to use while working part-time at Payless Shoe Source. Shoes were a slight passion of Kay's, and in the midst of setting sales records she could always find a good reason to indulge in a new pair for herself.
Kay shared a deep love and friendship with her husband, Ralph. Over the past 16 years they shared many moments of laughter and excitement, devoting themselves to each other and to their family and friends, especially their grandchildren. Inspired by her own marriage, Kay became an ordained minister in her desire to have a part in the love and unity of people close to her.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph; son Evan and his children Hayden, Tom, and Nick; niece Shauna, her husband Brooks, and their children Blake and Ian; stepson Brandon, his wife Kelley, and their children Wyatt and Nora; brother Sam, his wife Linda, sister Johnna, half-sisters Anne and Jane and their families, niece Samantha, nephew Derik, and the Lawrence Clan whom she adored. Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund for the grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Mainstreet Credit Union - Olathe East Branch located at 14280 W. 135th St, Olathe, KS 66062.
