Kay Ann Brown (Makovec), 77, born in Strong City, KS on April 12th, 1943, formerly of Topeka, KS passed away November 4th, 2020 in Overland Park, Kansas. She was a graduate of Chase County High in 1961. Kay attended beauty school in Emporia, KS and worked as a hairstylist in Topeka, KS for 40 years, where she also raised her children. Kay later moved to Olathe, KS in 2018 to be closer to her family. She enjoyed playing cards, line dancing, reading, watching local sports teams, spending time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, as well as had a great love for dogs. Kay was married on June 14th, 1960 to Richard Brown, but was later divorced.
Kay was preceded in death by infant daughter, Theresa Brown and her parents Chester and Stasie Makovec. Kay is survived by Arlene Evans (Makovec) (Sister - Cottonwood Falls, KS), Charlote Casey (Makovec) (Sister - Marion, KS), Jeff Brown (Son - Kansas City, KS), Jennifer (Tim) Miller (Daughter - Olathe, KS), Justin King (Grandson - Kansas City, MO), and Lucas King (Grandson - Raymore, MO).
Kay passed away as a result of Pulmonary Fibrosis and Lung Cancer. The family will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Olathe, KS on Monday, November 9, 2020 from 5:30 - 7:00PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 10 at 11:00AM at St. Anthony Cemetery, Strong City, KS. There will be a luncheon at the church hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the KC Pet Project.
