Mrs. Kathleen A. Finn, 61, of Olathe, Kansas passed away peacefully on September 20, 2009 from cancer. She was born on May 1, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas. She was a lifelong teacher making stops in Texas, Wichita and for the last 37 years at the Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe. She touched the lives of hundreds of children over her 40 years of teaching, and each of her students will carry a little piece of her kindness, strength, enthusiasm, and spirit with them forever.
She is survived by her husband Larry, two sons, Chris and Daniel, her parents Leo and Henrietta Anderson, brother and sister-in-law Leo and Sharon Anderson, her daughter-in-law Leah Finn, granddaughter Madelyn and four nephews, Rob, Mark, Brian, and David.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, September 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 3934 Washington Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64111. Burial will be at the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery just west of Lawrence, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home-Olathe Chapel, 14275 S. Blackbob Road, Olathe, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Kansas City Hospice House, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, Missouri, 64114.
