Karen Lynn Seward, 72, of Olathe, passed away on March 13, 2022 at home surrounded in love by her family after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born on June 2, 1949 to Edward and Geraldine (Hand) Williams in Indianapolis, IN. After Karen graduated from Principia High School in 1967, she pursued a degree in English at Elmhurst College.
On December 31, 1988 she married the love of her life David William Seward in Irvine, California where they lived before settling in Olathe, KS in 1993.
Karen worked as a Realtor in the Kansas City area for over 18 years until her retirement in 2011. While retired, Karen dedicated time to supporting the elderly as a personal advocate and cherished being a "Gammy" to her grandchildren.
She enjoyed gardening flowers, playing pickle ball, cooking for family meals, and one of her greatest most cherished loves was giving of herself to others through church. She was a member of The Church of the Resurrection (COR) for close to 20 years where she dedicated her time to singing in the choir, volunteering with Matthew's Ministry, Kids COR, small groups, and her greatest passion of mission work. She traveled to Malawi, Africa, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Window Rock Navajo Nation, and locally in the Midwest as she shared this gift with her grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, David, her children Tamra (Tim) Fisher; Mark (Amy) Cygan; step daughters Kristhia Seward; Danielle Seward. Grandchildren Natalie Flickinger; Callie, Avery and Miley Fisher; Kaleb and Olivia Cygan; Keira and Shelby Hodges."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Geraldine Williams.
In caring out her legacy, the family has established a dedicated Seward fund to support mission work. In lieu of flowers we are requesting a memorial gift in Karen's honor be sent to the Resurrection Foundation at 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224.
