Karen Ann (Greene) Floyd, 60, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones January 28th, 2014.
Karen was born June 7th, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri to Edith and Jack. She grew up in Fairway, Kansas where she spent her days playing with her brother, sisters, and neighborhood friends. She enjoyed climbing trees, riding her scooter around the cul-de-sac, and ice skating on a pond built by her father in their backyard. She attended Roesland Elementary, and then went on to play years of volleyball at both Old Mission Junior High and Shawnee Mission North High School. She enjoyed many family trips to Colorado throughout her childhood.
Karen went on to give birth to her son, Michael whom she adored. She then met her husband, John, after defeating him at a game of pool at their favorite bar, SOP in Mission, Kansas. Karen and John later had their daughter, Heather. As a family, they enjoyed camping and staying with their friends, Nancy and Russ at their house at The Lake of the Ozarks. Karen was a diehard fan of the Chiefs, Royals, and the Jayhawks, and boy did she cheer loud. John and Karen spent many Saturday nights bowling with good friends and many Sunday afternoons hosting or attending neighborhood "tailgate" parties. Karen spread joy wherever she went and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her adoring husband, John; her son, Michael, her daughter, Heather; her granddaughter, Tori; her mother, Edith; her brother, Steve; and her sisters, Barb and Laura and all of their families. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Jack Greene.
