Justin Robert Kimmich, 26, of Overland Park, passed away on September 12, 2022 at his home.
He was born on April 16, 1996 to Bob and Denise Kimmich in Kansas City, Missouri.
Justin attended Olathe East High school and then graduated from Kansas State University. He was also an Eagle Scout. He most recently was employed as a substitute teacher for the Olathe School District.
Justin cherished spending time with his family and with his network of friends, many of whom he has known since middle school. Throughout the years they played on sports teams together, competed in late-night video games and annual fantasy sports leagues, spent hours debating and analyzing movies and shows, all while supporting each other without fail. As an Anthony Bourdain fan, Justin lived the philosophy "You learn a lot about someone when you share a meal together" so spent much of his time experimenting in the kitchen, crafting specialty cocktails, and encouraging his friends and families to try new restaurants he had discovered. He looked forward to weekly family get-togethers to eat, share experiences and play games. He loved strategy competitions and trivia and was the king of one-liners, yet he was always kind-hearted. He had a gift for lifting up and rooting for the underdog and outcast. Justin was passionate about sharing his love for history, especially the Civil War in Kansas and baseball history. He will be missed.
Justin is survived by his loving parents, Bob and Denise Kimmich, his sister, Rachel Kimmich and her fiancé, Junior Urbano, as well as his second family of many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bob Kimmich, Sr. and Jim Jennison.
