Junetta Elaine Godwin was born on August 26, 1940 to Paul & Juanita (Austin) Rogers. Paul & Juanita divorced when Junetta was young. Juanita later married Herb Adams who became Junetta’s daddy. Junetta grew up in Butler, MO and was known for her sense of humor and pranks even then.
In October of 1959, Junetta met the love of her life, Charles Godwin, at a Sunday evening revival service. They were engaged two weeks later and married on January 24, 1960. Junetta and Charles had three sons – Jerry, Ron, and Jeff and raised the boys here in the Kansas City area. Junetta was primarily a stay-at-home mom but did have an in-home daycare for a while. She also worked briefly as an administrative assistant and, after retiring, she worked part-time at Burger King where she entertained the dining room customers with her sense of humor.
Although Junetta’s health issues had not permitted her to attend church for many years, her faith in the Lord was always an inspiration to her family and friends. In June of 1954, at the age of 14, Junetta knelt at an old fashioned altar and gave her heart to the Lord. Her love for Him never wavered nor the confidence in His love for her. Her deepest desire was for her family and friends to know His love also and to be with her someday in Heaven.
Junetta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles, who passed away just 4 ½ weeks ago. She missed Charles so much that as a family we believe she died of a broken heart. Junetta is survived by her 3 sons Jerry (Leann), Ron (Kathleen), and Jeff (Kim) all of the area. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren including 1 on the way, her brother Jerry Adams, and sister Jannell Adams.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Junetta’s memory be made to Lenexa Central Church of the Nazarene Missions.
