June Marie Luedke, nee Sampson passed away peacefully and comfortably at the age of 91 on June 21, 2024, at Shawnee Gardens Healthcare and Rehab Center in Shawnee, Kansas. She was the eldest of nine children born to Dan and Margaret (Kramme) Sampson.
June attended Hartley High School, and participated in girls basketball and had the honor of playing in the state tournaments.
In 1950 she married her high school sweetheart, Roger Luedke and they were blessed to have 54 years together.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Olathe, Kansas; and for many years served as a member of Ruth's Circle where she provided quilts and knitted hats for Lutheran World Relief, and served Lent and Advent dinners. June also served at the Election Office in Johnson County, Kansas, and was a member of the Overland Park Arboretum. Other hobbies she enjoyed were bowling and gardening.
June was preceded in death by her husband Roger Luedke, a brother Darrel Sampson, her daughter Jeri Luedke, and a great grandchild Isabella Vilsack. She is survived by four brothers: Garry Sampson, George Sampson, Earl Sampson, and Linn Sampson; three sisters: Judy Schumacher, Fran Olesen and Bette Dawson; three children: Patricia Devine, Rebecca Luedke and Thomas Luedke. June is also survived by five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
