Julie Ann Bettis Currier, 67, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. She was born on June 20, 1954 in Delta, Colorado to Harold and Marie (Tilley) Bettis who preceded her in death.
Julie spent her childhood years through high school in Delta, graduating from Delta High School in 1972. She attended and graduated from Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas in 1976 with a degree in City Planning. Following graduation, she worked in finance and administration at various educational institutions and other organizations.
Julie was passionate about local history and researching family genealogy. Known as a highly creative person, Julie was skilled at decorating and repurposing furniture and found objects. Her family knew her as someone who always loved to give creative and imaginative gifts and her home was a reflection of her many eclectic interests. Her sons, Evan and Collin, were the joys of her life.
Julie is survived by her two sons, Evan (Rachel) Currier, 38, of New Orleans, LA and Collin Currier, 36, of Denver, CO; sisters Carla (Fred) Timberlake of Overland Park, KS, Gloria (Rock) Shryock of Colorado Springs, CO, Sheri (Owen) Fowler of Austin, TX; brother Daniel Bettis of Grand Junction, CO; niece Megan (Reid) Kapple; and nephews Adam (Kodie) Timberlake, Drew (Lauren) Timberlake, Brad (Kelly) Shryock, Bob Shryock, Jordan Shryock, Caleb Fowler and Samuel Fowler; and nine great nieces and nephews.
The family held a private memorial service on August 21, 2021, at Julie's favorite park, Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park in Lenexa, KS. Burial will be at the Pea Green Cemetery, Olathe, CO at a future date.
