Julie M. (Bartels) Bosworth, 57, of Olathe, KS, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was born on May 19, 1967, in Ames, IA, to Larry and Virginia (Mitts) Bartels.
Julie was raised with her two younger sisters on the family farm near Syracuse, NE. Following graduating high school as valedictorian, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Nebraska. Julie was an actuary in Lincoln, NE, and Kansas City, MO, and gained her FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation in 1997. After working as an actuary for 16 years, she decided to pursue music and education – her true passions.
Julie was a musician since she was a young girl. She studied piano and participated in band and choir throughout middle school and high school. While a student at Nebraska, she both accompanied and led her church choir. Julie taught private piano lessons for nearly 20 years. She also taught Kindermusik classes to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and their parents for 7 years. She was a choir accompanist for several schools in the Olathe area. She was a member of the Olathe Music Teacher’s Association and served as chairperson of the annual Solo Festival for the last 10 years. Music was integral to Julie’s life, as exemplified by her philosophy: “Music is supposed to be fun.”
Julie was a Paraprofessional at Olathe East High School, where she supported Center Based Resource students. She was an empathetic person, and working with these students truly suited her. Julie married in 1990, and had two sons: Connor in 1995 in Lincoln, NE, and Nicholas in 1997 in Olathe, KS. Julie was an avid crossword enthusiast, and she enjoyed solving word puzzles, reading, and re-watching favorite movies. She had an affinity for anything chocolate and a strong love for Cold Brew Coffee. Somewhere along the way, Julie created her personal tradition of ice cream for dinner every Sunday.
She is survived by her loving sons, Connor Bosworth of Glendale, CA, and Nicholas Bosworth and wife Emily of North Little Rock, AR; father, Larry Bartels of Syracuse, NE; and sister, Jennifer Isaacs of Syracuse, NE.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and sister, Janet Bartels.
