Julia Blackshire

Julia N. (DeFeo) Blackshire, 75, of Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Friday the 22nd of August 2014 at Olathe Medical Center.

Julia was born June 18, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, to Dominic and Marguerite DeFeo. She was married to James Blackshire on February 13, 1960. They were happily married for 54 years.

Julia spent 39 years devoting herself to others as a Registered Nurse. She retired from nursing in 2005, but never gave up her love for helping others as she spent her days volunteering for various charities in the area. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish in Olathe, KS.

Julia is survived by her husband James Blackshire of Olathe, KS; her brother Frank DeFeo and his wife Gina, her brother in-law Ben Blackshire and his wife Katie; nieces, Debbie Herrera, Becki Matteson, Jennifer Hense her husband John, Elizabeth Blackshire, Christina Blackshire; nephews, Tony DeFeo, and his wife Amy, Nick DeFeo, Michael Blackshire, John Blackshire; great- nephews, Jonathan Herrera and his wife Julli, Walker Matteson, Levi Matteson, Dominic DeFeo, A.J. DeFeo, John, Nicholas, Aidan, Bennett, Christian, Eljah Hense. Great- nieces, Kristan Herrera, Stella DeFeo, Marielle, Gia Hense.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Annette, and her sister Betty Jo.
