Judith Rae Murphy (Fisher), age 72, of Olathe, KS, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2013.
Judith (Judy) was born in 1940 in Kansas City, MO to Ray and Doris (Petty) Fisher. She graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO and attended the Kansas City Art Institute. She met her future husband, James Murphy, on a blind date, and they were married on September 1, 1962. Judy was a stay-at-home mom, an artist, a seamstress, gardener, and an top notch cook. She later worked as a bookkeeper for many small businesses in Kansas City. Judy enjoyed traveling to New York and Chicago to see her daughters and to enjoy theatre, fine dining, museums, and exploring the city. Of special note are two trips in her life: a trip with the family to Ireland to explore the wonderful landscape, pubs, and meet the wonderful people in Ireland; the cruise she took in 2011 with her dear friends to Italy, Greece, Egypt, and her favorite city, Jerusalem. We will miss her laughter, the comfort of her presence in our lives, and of course, her valuable cooking tips.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, James Patrick Murphy, her parents, Ray and Doris (Petty) Fisher, and brother, James Fisher. She is survived by her loving daughters, Susan Murphy, of the home, and Betsy Murphy, New York, New York; her wonderful extended family, and her great, and dearly loved friends.
