Judith Martha McConnell (August 19, 1940–February 17, 2020) also known as Judy, Mom, or Grandma to her family and friends, went to Heaven in the early evening of February 17, 2020. She was 79 years old. Judy is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) McConnell, her brother William Sinkevich, Bob and Judy's three children, Bryan, Craig and Amy, their spouses Sheryl, Amy and Steve, their 8 grandchildren, Derrick, Jessica, Emily, Megan, Riley, Courtney, Tyler and Cole, 5 great grandchildren Collen, Carson, Chloe, Harper, Klara and border collies, Artha and Mar-Mar.
Our devoted mother was dedicated to family, love and arts and crafts. She was a woman of unshakable conviction and integrity. She inspired us all with her love for family, artwork, gardening and creativity. Mom saw the beauty and potential in everything. She had an innate ability to take a blank canvas and turn it into something truly special. The work she created will live on forever.
As her children, we will cherish our memories at Jekyll Island when we were young, her famous rigatoni on Christmas Eve and trips to Big Cedar Lodge. We will forever hold sacred the many years we spent together with family at our Cabin while celebrating the Bevier Homecoming. Thank you, mom, for showing us your love. You will be dearly missed.
From her grandchildren:
We will miss our Grandmother so much and we are so lucky to have known such an amazing woman. We loved growing up hearing her stories of growing up in Chicago, Illinois, later moving to Bevier, Missouri with her family and helping her father run their general store, then later moving to the big city and Graduating from the Kansas City Art Institute where she met our grandfather, painting greeting cards for Hallmark, and raising our parents in Conyers, Georgia before moving to Olathe, Kansas.
We will cherish our memories with our grandmother riding to Bevier for the annual homecoming where she would crank her Rod Stewart on the radio, take us out for root beer floats, watching her paint and sew, and never missing a single birthday card.
Visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, at Penwell-Gabel, with Father Michael Hermes.
Judy's family will serve as pallbearers.
