Judith Emily “Judy” McKee
Judith “Judy” McKee, 83, Gardner, passed away on June 27, 2024, at Olathe Hospice House following a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma and kidney disease.
Judith, the daughter of Lester Fred and Mary Emelyn (Hemphill) Hackerott was born on December 28, 1940 at the family farm in Kenneth, Kansas. She attended Pleasant Ridge, a one-room school house, Countryside Elementary School, Olathe Junior High School, and graduated from John P. St. John Memorial High School in Olathe in 1958. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Central Missouri State University in 1962.
Judith was married to James Thomas McKee, son of C. Donald and Bertha (Pope) McKee on June 16, 1963.
The couple was blessed with three daughters, Amy Boehm (husband Thomas); Lisa Allen (husband Gary); and Holly Conser (husband Andy). She also had six grandsons, five granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and three great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her niece Carol Lang, five great-nieces and one great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother (Dale Hackerott), her brother-in-law (Roger Russell), her sister (Lois Russell), and two nephews (Stephen and Randy Russell).
Judith’s first employment was summer work as secretary for Attorney Rice Lardner in Olathe. She also worked for McGee Abstract and Investment Company during the summers while attending college. After college graduation, Judith taught business education classes in the Independence, Missouri School System for four years. After moving back to Johnson County, Kansas in 1966, she began her career as a stay at home mom. While raising her children, she served as Community Leader and Project Leader for the Oxford Hustlers 4-H Club. She served the Johnson County Fair Association while working in the office during the fair and as department head of the 4-H Crocheting and Knitting projects. She was a charter member of Chapter HL of the P.E.O. sisterhood, Olathe, Kansas.
Judith shared her love of Jesus Christ as a Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Olathe and then at New Hope Presbyterian Church of America in Olathe where she and her husband where charter members.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 13310 South Black Bob Road, Olathe, Kansas 66062, with funeral service following at 11 a.m. Private burial service will follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at DaVita Dialysis Clinic of Gardner, Kansas and Olathe Hospice House for the kind and loving care shown to Judith and her family.
