Judith K. Cavanaugh, 75, of Independence, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
She was born to the late Virgil and Mercedes Flack, November 19, 1945 in Kansas City, KS. Judy graduated from Ward High School in 1963 and pursued a working career until her marriage. She married the late Bill Cavanaugh in 1965, and they lived together in various Kansas City Area locations until permanently living in Independence, MO in 1969.
Judy was very dedicated to her family where she raised three children, was active in the PTA, Alter Society at St. Marks Catholic Church, and member of a quilting club. In 1981, Judy became a caretaker for her sick husband who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Judy juggled work, family life, and the care of her husband. Judy worked for Independence Regional Hospital for over 20 years and Consultants in Gastroenterology until her retirement in 2012. In retirement she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of her and late husband to travel to Ireland. Judy loved movies, cooking and spending time with her family.
Judy is survived by sister Virginia Crum, of Shawnee, KS; her three children: Maureen Hurd, of Olathe, KS; Pat Cavanaugh, of Olathe, KS; and Anne Bledsoe, of Blue Springs, MO. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceeded in death by her husband Bill Cavanaugh, her parents Virgil and Mercedes Flack, sister Jacqueline Franchett, and brother James Flack.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to The American Cancer Society.
