Joyce Somerhiser was born August 29, 1932 in Seward, Nebraska. She is survived by 1 sister, June Bankson, Clayton, CA, 2 daughters Robin Lathrum and Colleen Brown ( husband Bill) , 2 grandchildren, Brandi Graves Renollet (husband Alex) of Prosser, WA and Shea Lathrum ( wife Danielle) of Branson, MO, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 2 nieces, and 2 nephews.
Joyce served in the American Legion Women's Auxiliary for 43 years, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary for many years, demonstrating how much she loved her country.
She also loved helping those in need whenever she was able. Joyce was young at heart all her life. In her later years she enjoyed working Bingo at the Legion and VFW with her friends, puzzles, watching birds from her kitchen window, watching westerns and Hallmark movies, as well as that one favorite soap opera. She loved being outdoors and working in her yard. She had 2 dogs, Walter & Meg, who she loved as if they were her own children.
In her earlier years, she loved to go camping at Pomona lake, often taking her grandchildren with her. Joyce loved music and dancing, and was quite the handy-woman and could fix just about anything with only a screwdriver, hammer, and duct tape.
There is a hole in our hearts that no one else can fill, and she will be greatly missed. We are thankful for the assurance that she is now with her Savior.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. ~Ephesians 2:8
