Joy M. Rodenberger
March 8, 1953 — March 26, 2021
Joy Marlys Rodenberger (Hoemann) was born in Ferguson, MO, on March 8th, 1953, and passed peacefully in her Lenexa, KS, home on March 26th, 2021. She pursued her undergrad work in Biology at the University of Missouri in Columbia and went on to earn her Master's in the University of Oklahoma's Physician Associate Program in 1976.
She would go on to work for the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center until leaving for Kansas City in 1994. In KC, she worked as a Physician Assistant for Mid America Heart & Lung Surgeons until her retirement in 2018. Despite being diagnosed with stage four primary peritoneal cancer the year before, she continued to work her final year of employment while undergoing chemo treatments.
Pre-COVID, she was prone to traveling the globe with friends, seeing her granddaughters in their activities, wine-paring dinners with her children, and an unbelievable amount of quilting for friends and relatives. She made valiant (and nearly always successful) attempts at approaching her last three years with honesty and fervor. She contained within her a generous and forgiving spirit that she instilled within her family through her words and actions.
She is survived by her mother, Marcia Hoemann, her brothers Mark and Kurt Hoemann, sister-in-law Sherry Hoemann, sons Adam and Jason Rodenberger, daughter Blaire O'Donnell, son-in-law Keith O'Donnell, and granddaughters Grace and Bailey O'Donnell.

A brief memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, March 30th at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church with visitation at 4:15pm, and a memorial service to begin directly following at 5pm.
