Joseph J. Spohn, II, passed away Thursday Sept. 25, 2014 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Joe was born Jan. 4, 1961 in Butler, PA and raised in Prairie Village, KS. After graduating high school he began working with Roger the Plumber. He trained in both residential and commercial areas becoming a Master Plumber. He lived in Houston for 8 years and had the pleasure of working at NASA's Houston Control where he dreamed of becoming a plumber in Space. He holds several certifications in plumbing as well as heating and cooling. Most important to him, and his highest honor, was Hazardous Environmental Action Team (HEAT) Certification that he received working for Sprint with the assistance of The City of Overland Park, KS which he went on to train Nationally. For the past 7 years he worked for St. Joseph Medical Center.
He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Prairie Village where he served as an alter boy. He achieved the honor of Eagle Scout and Vigil honor member of the Order of the Arrow at Camp Naish. He will be remembered for his love of adventure, trains, dinosaurs and the dream of space and beyond.
He is survived by his children Anastasia (Stacy) DesLauriers, and Joseph J. (TJ) Spohn, III. His parents Joseph and Mary Ann Spohn. Sisters; Theresa Monterville, and Donna (Clay) Cormeny. And his brother Gerald (Lori) Spohn his grandson Andre' DesLauriers and 3 nephews and a niece.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or MS Society.
