Joseph Christian "Joe" Snellings

Joseph Christian Snellings, known as Joe, passed away on June 18, 2024 at the age of 46 in Lawrence Kansas. Born on August 31, 1977, Joe grew up in Olathe Kansas and was a proud graduate of Olathe South High School class of 1995.
Joe learned the importance of family while growing up with his parents, sister and two nieces all under one roof. He loved to play video games like Madden, Mortal Combat and WWE. As well as listen to rap music. In his younger years, he hung out with his nieces and cousins like he was their brother, playing hide and seek, card games, basketball and video games.
He met Brianne Bigelow online in 1999 and got married February 14, 2001. They later divorced in 2013 but stayed great friends and talked on the phone every day. Brianne would send Joe updates on his step kids, Amarie and Anthony, and Joe would cheer them on as if they were his own. He was really looking forward to getting better and attending their graduations and was so proud of them.
Later, Joe would meet Tina Jones while in rehab for having his leg amputated. They started dating December 2019. Tina and Joe moved in together and her kids, Jada, Nicholas, Levi and Kennedy looked up to Joe like a step father. Tina worked as a nurse and took great care of Joe with her knowledge and love and he appreciated that so much. Some say he made it this long because of her amazing care.
All Joe wanted to do was help everybody and he did so with a smile on his face, never complaining about anything. He was always cracking jokes with his amazing sense of humor and just made everything more fun and entertaining. If he knew you, he had a nickname for you, he made one up for everyone, that was his thing. Having the big heart that he did, he loved his family so much, including his niece Angel’s kids, Jessie, Cassidy and Wesley. He would get together with family as often as he could.
Joe is survived by his sister, Janell Snellings, his niece, Angel Hartsell (husband Bobby Hartsell and kids Jessie, Cassidy and Wesley) and his girlfriend Tina Jones (kids Jada, Nicholas, Levi and Kennedy). He was preceded in death by his parents JC and Beverly Snellings and his niece, Sydney Drake.
His selflessness, humor and big heart will be remembered by all.
