It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Joseph Raul Otero, 57, of Overland Park, KS, who passed away on July 17, 2023. Joe is survived by his wife of 13 years, Tawnya, his daughter, Jillian Michele, and his son, Joseph Giovanni. Joe is also survived by his parents, Raul and Alice Otero (Kansas City, MO), his older brother James (Las Vegas), and younger sister Alison (Kansas City), along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Joe enjoyed being outdoors and in nature. He especially loved being in and around the water and fishing during his trips to Florida and the Caribbean. Joe also enjoyed attending concerts, plays, and museums, along with reading and collecting rare books. He was always proud of his children's accomplishments and bragged about them to anyone who would listen. Joe was also passionate about feeding his family, friends, and local community.
With his friendly smile and willingness to help those in need, Joe will be missed by his friends and co-workers from around the world. He had recently accepted a job at Enterprise Software Solutions Inc after a long tenure at Archer Technologies, where he used his extensive knowledge of software and database engineering on complex projects. Joe's ability to focus on projects, purpose, and people inspired his co-workers and endeared him to his customers.
We will celebrate Joe's life on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, with a reception to follow. The memorial service will also be live streamed on their website, along with pictures celebrating Joe's life.
