Joseph Richardson Fisher
Joseph R. Fisher, 89, passed away on November 16, 2010 from natural causes.

Joe was born in Kansas City, MO, on January 16, 1921, the third of four sons to Earl E. Fisher and Allene R. Fisher. He grew up in Kansas City, MO attending Border Star Elementary and Southwest High School. Joe graduated from Southwest in 1938 and attended University of Kansas City where he began dating the love of his life, Martha A. Behner. Joe and Martha were married at the bride's home April 22, 1943. Joe and Martha were blessed with one daughter and three sons.
Joe served briefly in the Army Air Corps, after an early medical discharge he returned to Kansas City to begin his career. In 1945 he became a salesman for Hallmark Cards eventually moving to Temple, Texas to cover the entire state of Texas. In 1947 Joe joined his father in-law at the H.J. Cole Company as a salesman of paper products. It wasn't long before Joe was moved inside to help manage the company alongside the owner. In 1964 Joe with several associates purchased the company which became Cole Harford in 1979 with Joe serving as President. Joe's integrity and reputation as a gentleman was unsurpassed in the paper industry. After forty-four years of dedicated service he retired from the business in 1991.
Joe or "Dutch" as his family fondly called him was the true patriarch. Family was always first with him. He dearly loved his daughter, three sons, in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dutch was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 67 years , Martha Fisher of the home; sons, Stephen (Nancy) Fisher of Overland Park, KS, David (Deana) Fisher of Overland Park and Charlie (Shelley) Fisher of Parker, CO; 12 grand children and 7 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Baker, on December 27, 2002, and his brothers Eddie, Buddy, and Jack.
Dutch had a unique quality of taking a true interest in everyone he met, endearing him to many people. He will be missed by his family and all those he touched during his wonderful lifetime.
