Joseph Bond Elliott

April 4, 1923 — March 25, 2017

Joseph Bond Elliott, 93, of Leawood, Kansas, died peacefully in his home on March 25, 2017, just a few days before his 94th birthday.

Joe was born to the late Robert and Katherine Elliott on April 4, 1923 in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Southeast High School in 1941 and went on to attend the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

During WWII, Joe joined the Navy Air Corps and was stationed in Oak Harbor, Washington. After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to Kansas City where he married and had two children: Robert Barney and Charles Harold Elliott. As a young man, he loved to compete in skeet and trap shooting, and spent many Sunday afternoons at the Elliott Shooting Park in Raytown, Mo. He was a co-owner of Elliott-Knott Sporting Goods stores in Mission and Prairie Village before joining a family business at R.S. Elliott Arms Co.

Joe married Theresia (Tea) Dugan on October 29, 1970, and happily gained a daughter, Andreja Dugan.

Joe will be remembered as a kind, polite, and gracious man who was loved deeply by his wife, family, and friends.

Joe is survived by his wife, Tea; his children and their spouses, Robert (Jeannette) of Columbia, Mo; Charles (Laura) of Corrales, New Mexico; and Andreja Dugan (Mark) of Center Moriches, New York. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Barney Elliott and his sister, Sue Elliott Hearst.
