Joni Harding

Joni Joyce Harding, age 55, went home with the Lord on April 1, 2013 after a long battle with stomach cancer. On May 1, 2012 she was diagnosed with Stage IV Stomach cancer. She fought a long, hard battle with cancer, and by God's grace, survived months longer than the doctors originally predicted.

Joni was born December 9th, 1957 in Kansas City, KS, to Robert & Carolyn Skeens. She attended Johnson County Community College and received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Graphic Design.

Joni worked for Intertec Publishing for many years and won the Bronze Quill Award for her work developing a set of merchandise brochures. After having her two children, she began free lancing her work in designing magazines and printed materials. She was one of the founders of Harding Upholstery, a family business started in 1981 which is still thriving to this day. She was also a master salesman and won the award of top Seller in the Midwest at Dillard's three years in a row.

Joni was a devoted Christian and will be especially remembered for her caring, loving, and compassionate heart and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Even throughout her difficult and painful fight with cancer, Joni never complained and always thought of others before herself.

She is survived by her children Alisa Self & Grant Harding, her parents Robert & Carolyn Skeens, her brothers Robert Jr. & James Skeens and many relatives and friends.
