Jonathan Terrance Jardine

October 1, 1979 — May 25, 2024

Jonathan Terrance Jardine was born in Overland Park, Kansas on October 1,1979 to Richard and Verlinda Jardine and welcomed by two already-doting older sisters. Three years later his younger sister came along and tried to steal his thunder by being born just two days before his own birthday. They would forever battle for birthday supremacy.

Jonathan was blessed to be sent to a family full of women who influenced everything from his frosted tips to his immaculate dressing standards which earned him Best Dressed accolades among his peers and facilitated the best headshots you've ever seen.

Blessed with athleticism, Jonathan enjoyed sports of all types and made lifelong friends. His competitive nature landed him in the ER so many times as a child that he was on a first-name basis with many of the doctors.

He was privileged to be a part of several sports teams that honed a strong sense of sportsmanship and teamwork. Many of those friends were by his side to the very end.

He was called to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1999 to Tijuana, Mexico. He truly loved the people he served in Mexico. Those two years ended up shaping the rest of his life for the better as he learned lessons in service and being a true disciple of Jesus Christ. And the experience would solidify his position as tour guide in any Spanish-speaking locale.

Upon returning from his church mission, Jonathan earned a Political Science degree from Brigham Young University. He was slow to admit that he met his better half, Jaimie (Ralphs), on a dating site. They sealed the deal with a proposal pre-empted by jumping from an airplane. There was no more fitting beginning to their adventure together.

Jonathan and Jaimie were married on December 16, 2006 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They began their life in Highlands Ranch, Colorado where they were blessed with their firstborn, Creed. He would be followed by Tylee, Dane, Roe and Mack. Five kids who looked identical at birth but are growing up to be the perfect blend of two amazing parents.

Jonathan loved being a father. He especially loved encouraging his kids to stay active and going as far as creating a Ninja Warrior course in their basement after moving to Overland Park. That course would inspire Jonathan's short-lived fame as a contestant on America's Ninja Warrior.

Jonathan has spent many hours on sporting fields with his kids as the best cheerleader in the bleachers and their biggest supporter in everything they enjoyed doing.

Temporally, he spent a long and successful career with FranklinCovey where he earned a living teaching people about their potential for success and good in the world which was the perfect place for someone like him who was prone to collecting inspirational quotes and learning about human potential.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding several positions in the church including Young Men's Leader, Ward Mission Leader, Bishop, Elders Quorum President and many others. He found great joy in serving others and the Lord.

In January of 2023, Jonathan was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain cancer. He took the news like a warrior and decided to use it for as much good as possible. His addiction to Marco Polo became an online diary of his cancer journey as he took each of us along with him. He had good and bad days but his outlook was overwhelmingly positive. That positivity led him to begin a podcast on living with terminal illnesses titled Terminally Happy.

Despite that positive outlook and overwhelming support from family and friends, his Heavenly Father had a better plan and took him home on May 25, 2024 after a year and half long cancer battle.

Jonathan is survived by his sweetheart Jaimie (Ralphs), his five beautiful children (Creed, Tylee, Dane, Roe and Mack), his parents Richard and Verlinda (Malone) Jardine, his three sisters (Jerianne Conroy, Janae Jackman and Jacqui Williams), their spouses and families and his maternal grandmother Ida Ruth Malone (Upchurch).

Although his wife envisioned making the introduction between her late mother (Jacquelynn Robins Ralphs) and her eternal companion, there is no doubt Jonathan nailed the introduction and his "after party" was attended by many that preceded him, namely his grandparents, Virl and Lois Jardine and his "Papaw" and namesake, Harry Terrance Malone.
